How the product works

The OptoGait consists of two parallel beams equipped with optical sensors that detect a person's every movement with 1 millisecond accuracy. Each beam contains 96 LEDs that communicate via infrared technology, allowing interruptions in the light signals to be analyzed to record foot contact times, swing phases, and asymmetries in real time. This allows for detailed movement analysis, both on a treadmill and on solid ground. The intuitive software provides visual displays, detailed reports, and the ability to compare tests with reference values. The OptoGait can operate completely wirelessly with a battery life of up to 8 hours, making it ideal for mobile use.

Tests and analyses

The Microgate OptoGait allows for various tests and analyses to be performed, including:

  • Gait analysis: objective evaluation of gait pattern, step width and asymmetry.
  • Jump tests: measurement of contact time, floating time and jump force.
  • Reaction time tests: analysis of speed and coordination to visual or auditory impulses.
  • Performance testing: measuring sprint and running technique for sports optimization.
  • Rehabilitation analysis: monitoring of movement patterns for injury recovery and neuromuscular training.
  • Tapping/frequency testing: measurement of step frequency and neuromuscular control.
